Letting Go of the Past

One of the hardest things in life can be letting go of the past. We know we should, and we beat ourselves up inside when we don't. By not letting go of our past, we repeat an endless cycle of the problem. This prevents us from being fully present in the moment. When we are not fully present in the now, we fail to live our life to the fullest. We become a prisoner of our own mind.

Steps on how to let go of the past:

1. Become aware that you are living in the past
Awareness is the first step toward leaving your past in the past. By simply being aware that you are holding on to the past, and recognizing the fact that most choices you make revolve around those experiences, you will automatically think twice and rethink your choice at that moment.

2. Realize that the past cannot be changed
The most sobering thing about the past is that it cannot be changed. Things have already happened. And seeing as there is no way to travel back in time, there is no way to change the past. At this point you must learn to accept it.

3. Focus on what you want
You have the ability to focus your thoughts on whatever you wish. Try it now. Think about tennis. Now think about your furniture. It's that easy. In order for you to hold those thoughts on any one thing you need to exercise the process. See yourself living a full life in the moment free from past hurt.

Resisting is Futile

Stop resisting your life. Whenever you are feeling uncomfortable, unhappy or any other negative emotion, you are resisting something in your life. You are saying to yourself and the universe that something is not right here and that it should be another way. Resisting is futile because it does not change the situation. Resisting emits negative energy and attracts more of the same negative situations into your life.--Sonia Ricotti
Since my last post, Learning to Let Go, I've learned to let go of the need to be in control. Still a work in progress, I find myself seeking to break through self imposed isolation. Some people would call me a functional introvert.

I've noticed that I had been resisting the introverted part of my personality. As a result, I had become more introverted. Then I read, The Law of Attraction Plain & Simple by Sonia Ricotti, and the light finally came on.

I realized that although I tend to be more reserved and less sociable, I am not a loner and enjoy co-creating. I choose to have a smaller circles of friends. This is nothing more than my social preference. Therefore, I embrace my social preference and innerstanding of my introversion.
